OUR HOCKEY MISSION

  • We would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know who we are and why we have created this group.

First and foremost we started this group with the intention of providing a safe, respectful and exciting environment for players of all skill levels to play without any pressure or politics that you might encounter in other leagues. This is the reason why we run structured shinny vs. having referees.

We hope that you all enjoy the format that we provide, but we are always open to feedback on how we can make Francis Hockey even better.

Rules and guidelines of Francis Hockey.

    RESPECT, RESPECT, RESPECT

    1. This is a friendly group! We all love to play, and of course, to win. But let’s not let our competitive spirits overshadow the fun of the game. Keep it clean please.

    2. Related to the first rule is that there is absolutely no violence and/or threatening of violence. We do take this very seriously and those who don’t abide by these rules will be asked to leave the group. Please remember that accidents can happen and not everything is intentional. It’s the nature of our sport.

    3. Penalties: As we don’t have referees, we don’t have penalties. However, should something happen where a penalty would normally be called, we ask you to be courteous to each other. Penalties can be accidents too. For example, if you’re defending and accidentally trip the attacker coming into the zone while swiping at the puck, take a minute to apologize and turn over the puck to that player or team.

    4. When the goalie stops the puck…leave them alone. If the puck goes into the net, or a goal is scored, the attacking team must leave the offensive zone and can engage when the puck crosses the blue line. If the goalie is hit in the head with a puck, the puck is dead and the defending team has possession and the offensive team must leave the zone.

    5. Slapshots are permitted, but please make sure the lane is clear and no closer than the top of the circles (not the faceoff dot).

    6. This is a non-contact league. Pretty self explanatory. We all have to work in the morning.

  • We do keep track of stats, but remember this is about having fun and enjoying your time on the ice and with the other players. There are no trophies or playoffs - it is all about respect and fun.

  • Hockey is and will always be a passion of mine. I wanted to create a forum where anyone can come out and play with a great group of people, have a ton of fun and look forward to the next game.

I started Francis Hockey with family and friends. The idea was that we could create a group where people could play their hearts out and maintain respect for one another.

What we have built is more of a social club than a hockey league, so thank you to all my family, friends, current and new players, who come out and play each and every game.
